Summary:

In 1995, the Bet El yeshiva "called on Israeli soldiers to refuse to obey orders connected with the evacuation of West Bank military installations as part of Stage 2 of the peace process," Hillel Halking wrote in the English language weekly, Forward.. "The ruling, which was denounced by the government, its supporters, and most of the Opposition as illegal and an invitation to civil war, has for the first time raised the specter of mass insubordination in Israel' s citizens army."

Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, the head of this yeshiva and Ateret Cohanim yehiva was among a group of influential rabbis who signed a letter urging the Israeli soldiers to disobey their superiors.

The yeshiva is associated with another famous right-winger, Knesset member, Benny Elon. A 2002 Jerusalem Post article reported: "Elon has been active in establishing a Jewish presence throughout eastern Jerusalem, including the Old City's Muslim Quarter, Silwan, Beit Orot on the Mount of Olives, Ras el-Amud, and the Shimon Hatzadik area in Sheikh Jarrah."

In 1999 Moskowitz and a group of financiers and politicians met with Elon to discuss backing him for a run for Prime Minister, according to a 1999 Jerusalem Post article.

In their own words:
In that same article, Elon, the Minister of Tourism, was quoted as saying, "Our strategic plan for the city is one: a belt of Jewish continuity from east to west."

Elon has also advocated a transfer of Palestinian land to Israel, followed by an emigration by Palestinians, the Jerusalem Post reported in 2002.
